You might be wondering what the name of this blog signifies. Have you ever heard of the saying "if it were a snake it would have bit me"? Many times when we are searching for something, it is but an arms reach away. It has happened more times than not, that no matter how long we have searched, we usually find it in the first place we looked, or it was right infront us the entire time. This is especially true for those who are seeking truth. Truth has a knack for alluding even the most diligent pursuer. We will look in far off places and under every rock & crevice. The search for enlightenment becomes a daunting and self inflicted rigorous concept; until one day you stumble into its splendidness. In my journey with Christ, I have realized that many of the amazing and precious truths of the bible fall in line within this same context. Scriptures that I have read for years will all of a sudden come to life for me. Clarity and the conceptualization of verses will miraculously be unfolded. My eyes and mind will be open by a divine right.
In light of these observations, let us ask the question: What if truth were a snake? What if truth were so close that it would bite us? Instead of being injected with poison which can take our very last breath. It is an injection of life with the everlasting breath of Christ. It would be a penetration of his word into the very darkest and hardest of hearts. May we all be bitten by the words of Christ.
When close to a snake it coils up like a spring, and with a fervent strike it attacks the closest object. May truth always be as a snake unto us. Therefore, let us ask and pray to our Lord. Our gracious and heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for dying for us and loving us unconditionally. As we read your word, please strike us with Your truth. Lord, let the truth of your word attack us with veracity unknown to mankind. Though we may lack in understanding, please do not let your certainty escape us. Let truth be a snake in our life". Amen!
